Restoring Lost Texts from Message+

First off, I learned through the  investigating this issue that Message+ is sunsetting starting this month thru November.  So I AM aware.

My issue:

I was using Message+ for texting.  I had my child as a starred or favorite so their texts were always at the top of the list.  Sometime yesterday, I noticed that they were no longer starred.   I didn't deliberately do it, but perhaps it was accidental, or perhaps this is part of the process in sunsetting the app.

Regardless, I re-starred them.  Today, I realized that all of our text messages prior to yesterday are gone!  There was information I needed in them regarding their activities and school stuff.

I have watched multiple videos and read many sets of instructions for restoring messages, but none of them have a path that works for me.  E.g. They tell me to go to this menu and tap this section, but I don't have the menu or the section either on my phone or online.

HELP!!

We understand the importance of having access to your messages. What we recommend you is to utilize the pre-installed texting app for your device or a new texting app. Tap on the link below to review valuable information.

Respectfully, your response did not address my issue at all.  The link you sent was how I learned that Message+ is being sunsetted, and nothing on that page addresses my issue.

I started using Message+ shortly after I purchased my phone (Galaxy S20+) because Verizon promoted doing so.  Since discovering this issue, I have tried to use the pre-installed Samsung Messaging App AND installed the Google Messaging app (as indicated in my original post).  My  missing texts are in NONE of the three apps.

The texts that are missing are between July 2019 and September 10, 2024, which I am guessing is the period during which I had starred by teens account so their messages would appear at the top of the lost.  It makes absolutely no sense that these messages would disappear from not only the app, but from the server as well (otherwise they would have populated when I set up Google Messaging).

I am sure that Verizon has this data backed up somewhere (at least the most current ones), but where they are backed up, how to access them and how to restore them is the info that I need.  Please provide that information or instructions on how to reach someone who can assist with this matter.

Given that this is a flaw in Verizon's system, quality customer service would provide a restore.

Thank you.

If the original messages are on the phone itself, you can try a third-party SMS Backup application available in the Play Store to copy your messages into a format that can then be copied to another phone and restored into the message application of your choice.

I was thinking of suggesting a 3rd party data recovery app, but didn't have any specific suggestions in mind, so thanks Ann!  Although if all the texts are now "gone" (or at least not viewable) from the phone, I wonder if they are recoverable.

Unlikely. Especially if the application is set to delete messages older than 90 days.

I don't know if there's a solution to your problem.  It used to be if you had Messages+ synced across several devices, the system would only store 90 days' worth of messages, but what you're describing sounds like a feature being disabled with the shutdown process, and when you tried to re-star the texts, it corrupted them.
