I received the below message 12/4/2024 and the caller ID showed "Verizon Wireless" from # 900090005866.
Is this real? There was no link to click, just telling me to change before 1/6/25. Please advise Verizon Security?!!

Samsung has moved away from their own apps in favor of using Google's apps. If you've got a Samsung which isn't brand new, could be that Samsung is slowly shutting down functionality on their apps.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

May we use another texting app instead of Google messages app? For example I know both Textra and Chomp are better apps than Google messaging app

So did Google fix their messaging app? I'm the only one in my family (siblings and parents) that doesn't have an iPhone because I don't like them. When they'd message in our group thread it would start a new thread every single time. This is ridiculous .

We never want you to have problems with your messages, and we'd love to help figure out what's going on. Google Messsges is not the only app you can use to replace your existing messaging app, but you'll need to find the pros and cons to other apps and make that choice.
Is the messaging issue only with Google Messages? Have you tried it again recently to see if the issue persists?

Are our existing messages going to be automatically erased as of January 6th, 2025 to where they need to be backed up if we don't switch?

We do recommend backing up your messages before 1/6/2025 to avoid losing any information.
