Sending a URL via email to xxx@vtext.com

I run several websites and I use the email to text feature to send myself alerts from the servers when something needs attention.  Usually, these alerts consist of a URL which I can then easily follow to the specific page on my website with the issue.  Over the past couple of weeks, I've stopped getting these alerts.

After some testing today, it seems like Verizon is not allowing any messages with URLs in them to get through.  I can appreciate this as a step to cut down on spam text messages, but in my case, it is a preventing legitimate alerts from getting to me.  Is there any way to disable this feature?

I'm sorry to learn you've come across this issue, nwitthaus. I'd like to gather a bit of information. Do you have something enabled to automatically send alerts or are you manually sending the alerts as you find an issue? When you attempt to send a URL, how is the message received on your phone? Is it blank or are you directed to a website that cannot be displayed?

The alerts are sent from my websites automatically when conditions call for one to be sent.  It is sent as an email with a subject of "Alert" and a body consisting of a regular URL in the form "http://example.com/page/in/question".

While testing, I tried to force several of these messages through and none of them came through and there is no indication of failure.  The messages are just flushed automatically by the system.  I then changed the body of the alerts to "example.com/page/in/question" and the messages still did not come through.  Finally, I changed the body to just "/page/in/question" and the texts then came through.

I'm also subscribed to a service that sends links (in the form of "http://example.com/etc") to specials on another websites.  I have not received those texts in several weeks either.

So, it appears that my texts are being screened and if there is a URL or something simple in the form of "example.com", the texts are not allowed through to my phone.  Please let me know if there is a way to disable this screening.

Some more information after some additional testing...

Texts containing URLs in these simple forms are allowed to go through to my phone:

http://example.com

http://example.com/

example.com

example.com/anythinghere

Texts containing URLs in these forms are not allowed to go through to my phone:

http://example.com/anythinghere

http://example.com/any/thing/here

Also, secure URLs (using https://) are being allowed through in any form.

https://example.com/any/thing/here
