Setting up Verizon messaging app on ipad no Verizon smartphone

I have a Verizon ipad, I want to add the Verizon messaging app to it.  I do not have a Verizon smartphone.  In the setup can I put in the number of my AT&T smartphone in order to get the pin number that they send as verification to set up the app?

No. I don't think that will work. Verizon Messages needs to be attached to a Verizon Wireless phone number associated with an active VZW phone line. The number of iPad isn't valid for the application either.
