I think it is awful that Verizon does not sent out some kind of notification of CHANGES in how they will be charging! I upgraded my text package due to a very distressed "friend" who just would NOT stop texting me..day and night..I was NOT told when I changed to the 10.00 package that I could NEVER CHANGE BACK to the 5.00 package. I have been a Verizon customer for about 11 years and I think I should be able to go back to the 5.00 package! IF they are going to change it so that you HAVE To have the 10.00 pkg or NONE at all..they should PUBLICLY and WITHOUT A DOUBT make people aware of this BEFORE the change!

That is the point of a grandfathered plan or feature. If you don't change, you can keep it. However if you do change it, it is not possible to get the same plan/feature back. Even if a company has a way to restore grandfathered plans/features, there is only a small window of opportunity to make such a restore happen.

For example, if a person has an unlimited data plan on Verizon Wireless and in the process of upgrading their smartphone to another smartphone loses that unlimited data plan, that person can request a restoration of that data plan feature within 14 days of the change.

If you go through a whole billing cycle with a different plan/feature, getting the previous plan/feature back when it is no longer offered is impossible. It wouldn't be fair to the other new and current customers.
