Do calls through Messages count as minutes used on my account?
Great question and definitely something good to know. Text Messages would only apply toward any usage allowance, not minutes, on your account.

What do you mean calls through messages? What message platform are you using? Are you using 2 way voice capabilities of a messaging app? If so which one.
You will find if you are using 2 way voice communication over an app, such as with WhatsApp, that is using a technology called Voice over IP or VOIP. This is data and uses data minutes if not on wifi and not your plan minutes.
