The issue with not being able to send or receive text messages has been resolved. I called customer service and actually spoke with a CSR without a long wait. I was told that I had no balance for texts even though I had plenty of minutes and data available. I bought a $5 dollar TracFone text card (1,000 texts) from Walmart online and now I am receiving texts and I can send them with any problems.
