Upgrade phone to texting costs $45?

So I have 3 dumbphones and 1 with texting. I decided that I was going to add texting to another phone. I've done this before and 250 messages costs $5 more a month. Instead of this, if I want texting added to other lines, Verizon looks to be forcing me to a very expensive sharing plan. I currently pay around $75 for my 3 phones and service with a company discount. The website here shows me just to add texting, because they are forcing me to the sharing plan, my costs will go up to $130!

I'm not even going to give them a chance anymore. My company also has the same discount with 2 other providers. After all these years with Verizon, I can't believe they don't want to retain customers.

As noted in other threads, the 250 texts for $5 feature was discontinued some time ago. You can add 1000 texts for $10. If you have trouble adding it online, call customer service and have them add it.

On my plan, unlimited texting for all phones is $30 / Month. If this is what they are giving you, and you are in the middle of the billing cycle, then I could see it being a $45 charge, as you pay for the month in advance.

If you are saying that your bill would go up $45 based on those figures, it would be $55.

Maybe I misunderstood the original poster, but I gathered that when they tried to add a texting feature to a phone, that the on-line system was forcing them onto the Share Everything plan.  And that may have been because the 250-minutes for $5 texting feature is no longer available.  They shouldn't have to switch to the Share Everything plan just to add a text package, if that's what they are thinking.

That's what I was thinking, there is no reason for them to go to the FSE plan, as they would not have use of any data. To add unlimited texting for all phones on the older plans was $30 / month. I was wondering if he added it during the middle of the month, and they billed him for 1 1/2 months.
