Not sure why it would not let me reply, but I noticed the question about new phone and tablet and calls not working over WiFi. I am a very long-time customer (first phones before flip phones) and was even our company's rep with Verizon for some time. About 1.5 years ago, I ran into the same problem. I have used both Samsung and Apple devices. I finally gave up and went to Google apps to do all of this. I use Google Voice, which has lots of features and allows me to block and do other things I could not with Message +. One nice feature is I have a Google Voice phone number and can call and receive calls using that number.
Now that Message + is going away, I tried switching over to Google Messaging. Most of my groups came over, but not all of them. Not sure why that is but seems if groups are created on certain other cell providers messaging platforms, those group may not come over. Instead of Facebook, our families decided to enroll all of our extended families in a group. Those have been more private and personal, but once this is sunsetted (11.7), not sure what we will do, other than maybe move to Signal or some other app like that.
I do like that Google Messages is end-to-end encrypted, but it is Google after all. Will have to see how that goes, but still have to solve the issue of groups not transferring over.
I would submit that like others who have stated Verizon is abandoning their customers in this area and not continuing to develop the app, that is not good. Does this also mean that services like eMag will eventually go away as well for businesses.
Verizon needs to consider their consumer base, unless they are losing that much market share in this arena or explain the reasoning behind it. The FAQ does not do justice to this.
