Messenger on my non cellular equipped iPad Air stopped working yesterday. I have a Verizon phone. Messenger will not send me the QR code to reinitiate the service. What can I do?

I have an iPad Air that I use Message+ Integrated with my phone and it works. It, however, is a line on my account with a number but for data only, no cell service. Is your iPad Air on your account? What software version is your iPad Air? Mine is an old one that cannot be updated, running v12.5.7.
