Verizon Messages security code?

I have the Verizon messages on the web and I am able to use it , when trying to set up the app on my IPAD it needs a security code, my phone is broken and I can not retrieve the code from my phone, but I am still able to see messages and recieve them on he verizon messaging on the web, why is the message with the security code not appearing in the messages on the web?

Given it is a security code, it must go to the phone only and be accessible from the phone only.
