Verizon Messages

You are removing Messages+ and advising everyone to use Google Messages as of June 2024. Will I still be able to see my messages and photos? Will I be able to keep the app?

If it were me, I'd back up any important photos or messages.  You could probably keep the app after it's been shut down but then it's just a dead weight taking up storage space.

Hello,

Starting on October 2, 2024, Verizon will start to shut down the Verizon Message+ app.

  • The app will be fully discontinued on November 7, 2024.
    • Once the Message+ app is shut down, you won’t be able to use the Message+ app to send and receive messages.
    • You also won’t be able to view the app in the Apple app store or Google Play Store.
    • For Android devices, Verizon recommends switching to Google Messages as the replacement app for messaging. For more information, see VZ Messages Recommendations.
    • Apple Messages is recommended for iPhone® and iPad devices.
  • The ability to send and receive text messages on Verizon’s website is discontinued.
  • eGift cards are no longer available to buy through Message+ after April 2024. You can redeem previously purchased eGift cards after this date.

@SynthpopAddict Thanks for responding! That is a good idea.

Verizon Message+ app sunsets on 6/28/24. As part of the sunset, Verizon encourages customers to migrate to Google's messaging app called "Google Messages".

Your message history remains, and you can continue to use the Android and iOS versions on mobile devices.

Let us know if this clears things up.
