In MyVerizon under MyProfile is where you can change some of the alert settings. You can also call Verizon and ask to be on the Do Not Solicit list.
Having your number on the National Do Not Call List will do nothing because if you read the fine print it actually does say it will not apply to any company you've done business with in the last several months.
Also, just double check to make sure you do infact have the right text package for your needs.

My Verizon . . . My Profile . . . E-mail and Text Alert Preferences. Right below this under Phone Control Settings, I would STRONGLY urge you to go to the link that says: "View/Edit Privacy (CPNI) Settings" and opt out !!! Opting in gives your permission to Verizon to share your information among their affiliates, agents and parent companies (including Vodafone) and their subsidiaries.
