Wear24 with Message and Android Wear 2.9

Since my Wear24 updated to Android Wear 2.9 the Message+ app on the watch no longer receives incoming text messages. However, it does still allow me to send text. There is another person in my office experiencing the same issue. Please advise.

Making sure all services work correctly after any update is important, GERHUD34. Thanks for reaching out to us here with regard to this. Have you attempted to un-pair and then reconnect your watch to your phone after this issue occurred? is your phone and messaging + app completely up to date on the latest version?

I reset the watch to factory defaults and have set everything back up and I'm still experiencing the same problem. Message+ app is updated and working fine on both my S8 and Desktop computer.

GERHUD34, texting is the main source of communication used to keep everyone connected, therefore I can understand your need for your Wear24 to receive text messages. I have sent you a private message to start a deep dive. Please send us a reply there.

Chris546, we understand the importance of making sure you are able to receive incoming text messages to your Wear24 watch. We truly appreciate all of your efforts with trying to solve this concern. Letโ€™s continue to work on this. Can you please let us know if you are able to receive an incoming text message to your watch when you disable messages + and set the preinstalled messaging app as the default app?

Message+ is the default messaging app on the Wear24. The only way to send and receive text on the Wear24 is through Message+ after pairing the Wear24 with your phone

I appreciate the reply, SylviaT_VZW.  As GERHUD34 stated (thank you for clarifying G), it appears that my issues with the other messaging apps are directly related to my Verizon Wear 24.

To answer your question, Sylvia, I did just try this.  I tried disabling on both my Wear 24 and phone, setting the default messaging app back to the standard messaging app with the yellow envelope.  This did not work on the five messages I received as tests.

I then tried to enable Message+ only on my watch, leaving my phone on the other default app.  Did not help with the messages I received.

I then tried to disable Message+ on my watch only, and enabling it on my phone.  Did not work.

Looks like there are a few other post with people complaining about this same issue. Hopefully we can get a timeline on when it will be fixed

I would like to link in another thread that I started as well - How do I get Message+ to work on my Wear24 watch?

Please do not construe my reply as complaining; only that I would like to help in the matter.  If Verizon would like to contact me directly for any testing or additional feedback, please donโ€™t hesitate to ask.  Or if anyone here wants more info, Iโ€™m happy to provide.  In addition to what I posted in this link, I have now done a factory reset on both of my devices and started from scratch.  This did not resolve my issue.

Without getting too personal, I depend on my watch as a lifeline for being accessible with my young daughter and health issues.  Iโ€™m not able to have my phone on at all times at work, so I purposely sought out the Wear 24 and Verizonโ€™s Message+ app because it seemed like a perfect match and the most reliable.

Iโ€™m aware that there are other messaging apps out there, but they have had their set of glitches as well with
my Verizon devices.  I chose to abandon that search as I need the reliability.  I have two Verizon exclusive devices, and Message+ is always installed and cannot be removed.  I expect the support as long as
these are apps I cannot remove and replacement has not been a viable option.  I do understand that Verizon no longer offers the Wear 24.  It is unfortunate, but business is business and I can understand that. Plus, this may be a moot point because this appears to be a complete Wear OS issue and not exclusive to my Wear 24.

Again, please let me know how I can help.

Hopefully I can shed some light on your issue...There's nothing the Verizon Rep can do to resolve your issue; because this issue is beyond their scope of expertise.  The problem is really a software issue; there's a bug in Andriod Wear Oreo Operating System which prevents the Verizon Message App from working properly on your smartwatch.  And the only way to fix this issue is by an Andriod Wear Software Update.  Which means; either the Verizon or Google Software Engineers must 1st figure out what the exact problem is in the software then fix it, then release the new update to the public.....My only concern is: If this issue is actually a real concern for Verizon?..How eager is Verizon to get this issue resolved?...Do they actively have software techs working on the problem or are they putting pressure on Google to resolve it?....And when (If ever) will This new update/fix be released?...

Hope my response helped..

I agree with your assessment, Jog.  While I do appreciate the replies we are receiving from the Reps, it is a larger issue.  I am hoping that all of our comments are escalated and do make it to the correct parties in order to resolve this.

If the Verizon Rep is able to resolve your issue, could you please post the steps on how they were able to fix the problem...Thanx.

I will certainly do so, Jog.

I do have an update.  Yesterday I received an update to the Wear OS app.  Since then, some messages came through, and I was able to go back and forth with it last night.  Today, some messages are there, some are not.  I restarted both my phone and my watch, and I'm back to getting text messages through Message+.

I'm not sure if the messages were coming through because of the Wear OS app update or not.  For reference, my watch is on version 2.10.0188487362

Alicia and I agreed to postpone our conversation for now, but I will report back if there is an issue.  I appreciate your willingness to help, Alicia.  Texts are still coming in for me.

My solution -

I updated the Wear OS app (was Android Wear) on my phone and watch.  New version is 2.10, was 2.9.

Restarted both to help it settle in.

Did nothing with Message+

I did notice that some alerts did not come through when I was actively working on my phone with Message+ up, but my phone was active so I don't think this is an issue.

I just updated to the New Wear OS (formally Android Wear).  I updated the Wear OS (Wear OS # 2.10) on both my Phone and my LG Watch Sport.  But my Build # is still the same (OWR1.170919.018).  The Verizon Message Plus App is still not visible on my smartwatch.  I factory reset my watch and still no improvement.  I'm assuming that since my Build # hasn't changed; I'm probably still operating on the same old Andriod Wear Oreo with a few MINOR updated tweeks.....I guess I'm just gonna have to wait for Wear OS 3.0 before I see any real improvements...

I will keep you posted..

My only options are; to either wait for Wear OS # 3.0 or for Verizon to come to with a magical fix to my problem....

I've been doing some further research on the Message Plus App issues.  I checked the list of smart Watches that received the Oreo update and the Wear-24 wasn't listed (which is why you have a different Build than me).  While we're both having issues with the Verizon Message App, It seems my issue is specific to the Oreo Update.  When Google was originally designing Oreo; they had no reason to test their software's compatibility with the Verizon Network, because Verizon dropped production and support of the Wear 24 watch. This meant,  Verizon no longer had a smartwatch on the market that ran on Andriod Wear 2.0 or higher.  Therefore Google had no reason to test the compatibility of any upgrades to Andriod Wear on the Verizon Network....Which ultimately led to the problems we're have today with the Message Plus App.  My only concern is if Verizon has any real interest in resolving this issue.  If they have no interest in fixing this, then I'll be forced to cancel my extra phone line for my smartwatch and install a SIM Card from a different phone carrier.  Then I'd have to start using the Google Message App on my smartwatch instead of using the Verizon App.  I'm not looking forward to doing this; so hopefully Verizon is committed to resolving this issue.

Thanks for the additional info, Jog.  You are right.  I was looking in the wrong spot.  I found my Wear 24 is still on Android OS 7.1.1.

I had to restart my phone and watch this morning, and I've still gotten a few text alerts after that.  Now we know we may be comparing apples to oranges at this point because I'm on a different Android version.  I apologize for my confusion.
