What a horrible Company!!!!!!!!!!!

Same thing happened to us after moving to Alaska and getting poor reception in the area where we were and no data service. There are NO verizon stores in Anchorage and no help from customer service. We were told in Texas that our phones would work in Alaska by Verizon employees. When we called customer service for help and wanted to end our contract, we were told we had to pay an early termination fee which was almost $600. The rep advised it was our decision to move to Alaska and not theirs and couldn't do anything for us. We are now AT&T customers and service is much better with 4G LTE in the Anchorage area at least. Thanks for nothing Verizon after 10 years of being a loyal customer.

Waiving an ETF for moving out of a VZW service area is no longer a valid exception. You still have the option to perform an AOL to another customer. so a waiver of the etf is only for if your dead or for marginal coverage(not due to moving). sorry but your stuck with the etfs due to the contract i mean you may be able to neg. some of them *not garanteed* but not all and thats only due to your tenure

You moved to alaska man...

if you had a lease and broke your lease to move you would be charged for that

if you had a contract with comcast for cable and left you would be charged for that

I don't see how making people be held accountable makes verizon a bad company

@ commonsense101, maybe you missed the part where the OP said, while they were in texas, they were told they would have service in alaska. this is NOT the samething as "skipping out" on a lease.. this would be more like making arrangements to transfer apts, having it cleared to do so, then having half the roof ripped off afterwards and still expecting the tenant to pay full price.. so no, its NOT the samething or even close.

they are already under contract..finding out if they have service the location they move to before hand doesn't mean anything

Most areas of Alaska has limited coverage, if they moved to an area that doesn't have coverage they would need to cancel..

its not like they started service in texas with the intention of moving to alaksa

Good Afternoon,

I see that you are having issues in Anchorage. Well, Verizon will have full service starting sometime this year. I was told by Best Buy that they are expecting Verizon to be active with 4G in April. Verizon's switchboard facility has been built up and functioning in Anchorage. Verizon users in the Anchorage area, like myself, have been bouncing off the ACS towers.

Once April comes around, look for Verizon to be doing its thing here in Alaska. While it is difficult being a Verizon customer in Alaska, the time and patience will pay off as they move up here and get activated.

I had AT&T years ago and kicked them to the curb for poor customer service when they bought out Cellular One. I've had Verizon here in Alaska for the last 5 years and have never had an issue with them. They use the ACS towers and have a much better reception than GCI or AT&T. I'm looking foward to the next couple of months when Verizon will be active here and it will be even just that much better. Have patience and loyalty.....
