Why are texts sent from web portal not showing up on phone's Message text thread?

I send a text to a person via the Verizon web portal and can see the entire discussion of messages I created on my phone as well as texts created on in the portal. But when I check my phone's Message+ app, only the texts entered from the phone are displayed.

To be able to send out text messages is important, Ag3ntX. Let me assist you further with using the Verizon portal when it comes to sending messages. Are you logged into the website for landline (FiOS) internet or on My Verizon related to wireless service when using the portal? Which device are you using to send the messages? Share more details so we can locate a solution for you.

I had a text thread with my wife that was started on my Galaxy Note 4. I replied to her number later online, on a PC, connected to the Internet via my home ISP. Using Google Chrome browser, I navigated to Verizonwireless.com and went to my services, then to "send text message". I then sent a text to my wife on the PC. I later went to my phone, opened up message+ and I can only see texts typed and sent from the Galaxy Note 4. None of the texts created and sent from my PC appear on my Galaxy Note 4's message+ app's text thread with my wife. But if I go to my PC, then to Verizonwireless.com then to "send text message", I open my wife's number and see all texts sent from my phone as well as from the PC.

HI Ag3ntX,

It sounds like your devices are not 'attached'.

1:

On the MOBILE APP,  please check that you are subscribed to INTEGRATED MESSAGING: Launch Verizon Messages; go to Settings โ€“ under integrated Messaging feature, If you ARE Subscribed , you will see the Unsubscribe option. If NOT subscribed,   go ahead and subscribe.

2:

Please check that the secondary devices are attached to the MOBILE App.

- On the Mobile:

Android: Go to Menu (3bars)> Settings>Manage Devices

- If this device  is not listed in MANAGE DEVICES, please add it: Uninstall on the device and reinstall so you get the verification PIN.

Let us know if you need more assistance.

Thanks

ALIEM

I navigated through the menu options to Manage Devices. My number is listed at the top of that screen, but it does not show up as a connected device it the lower part of the screen.

Ever since I activated the Integrated Messaging I have new issues. 1-2 times a day, a message will pop up when I am either sending a text or receiving one. It is a pop up that says you have been disconnected from Integrated messaging (or something similar) and has a "re-connect" button. I click it and it shows a progress bar that takes about 15 sec to complete. Once the progress bar is done, I receive my text or my text gets "delivered". So I go back into Advance settings and check Integrated Messaging and it still shows I am not connected ut I can send/receive.

Someone recommended deleting the Message+ app on my Galaxy Note 4 and reinstalling it. If I do this will I lose all my texts and attachments that are on my phone? Some are not in the web-portal so I don't want to risk uninstalling it without confirmation that it will be saved.

Ag3ntX,

I am confident that we can get this resolved. Yes, try deleting the Message + application. It's just an application that distributes your messages so it will delete them. The only way your messages will delete is if you delete the actual message. Keep us posted.

RyanC,

Thanks for your response and willingness to help.

I cannot uninstall it. It is a default app in my Note 4 and the Note 4 only allows for "Force Stop" and "Disable". So I disabled it & uninstalled the updates. I then enabled it again, opened the app & Settings --> clicked "Subscribe", then the "Please Wait Starting Services" progress bar appeared again, it appeared to finish and returned me back to the messages screen. I went back into Settings and it still says "Subscribe" (as opposed to UN -subscribe). I click subscribe again and the same thing. Still does not show as being connected. Now I cant even get to the "Connected Devices" screen which I could before the uninstall (disable).

I then went to the play store, ran the update and it still happens. now, after the first attempt to "Subscribe", it hung on the Starting Services progress bar at about 30% the way. After it finished, it returned me to the Conversations screen and when I go back to Settings clicking Subscribe does nothing. Not even the Progress bar anymore, like it is stuck.

Please note that I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a "PIN" sent to my phone? Well, in the Verizon messages app, there is no text from Verizon regarding a PIN or otherwise after I clicked the "Subscribe" button.

RyanC,

I rebooted my phone again, asked someone to text me and it did not come through. I clicked Message+ and the "Starting Services" bar started again and then I got the text. Went to Settings > Integrated Messaging > Subscribe. This time I got a text from "VZ Messages" with a 6-digit PIN#, but it only appeared on my Pebble Watch only. The text does not show up in Message+ on my Note 4, so I don't know what to do with the 6-digit PIN.

And to confirm, Message+ is my default Text messaging app.

Your patience ie greatly appreciated on this matter Ag3ntX. Let's think outside the box on this matter. What happens when you disconnect the pebble? Are you able to view the messages on your device that were sent from the web portal then?

After re-updating the Message+ app and disconnecting my Pebble. I still got the same issue. I cannot access the portal now as the site seems to be offline. "web.vma.vzw.com is not responding".

I restarted my Note 4 again and I got a Text from "Verizon Messages" (5555). So I tap the Message+ icon and the "Starting Service" pop-up with the progress bar appears. When I open the text, it says "Failed to retrieve Security Code. Please try to connect again later by using the Subscribe option within the Settings screen". BTW, the text appeared in my Pebble & Message+ this time.

So I disable Bluetooth and my Pebble connection (to test your theory), go back to Settings > Subscribe > Tap it, and it just goes back to the conversations screen. I repeat Settings > click Subscribe and it still goes back to the Conversations screen. There was no "Starting Service" pop up this time.

Ag3ntX,

Thank you for the screen shot and working through this with us. Have you ever been able to see messages sent or received online on your actual device? Now that Pebble is removed, is there a difference? Can you still send message from the device?

I still can't access the portal so I will comment only on what I can do from my Note 4.

I can send and receive texts from my phone.

I cannot turn on the "Integrated Messing Features". When I click the "Subscribe" link (as in image below) it either:

1) pops-up a screen "Please Wait Starting Service" with a very slow progress bar that ends with no confirmation, and returns me to the "Conversations" Screen.

or

2) Does nothing and returns me to the "Conversations" Screen.

Also note that I did get this one text from Verizon after reinstalling the Message+ app. I did try after waiting a while as it instructs. Still no joy.

Thanks for the visuals and the confirmation that you are able to access the messaging portal, Ag3ntx. I see that the only issue now is that you cannot see texts that were created and sent from the web portal. Since you are now able to access the messaging portal and most messaging options are now working properly, please try removing/disabling the Message+ application, then power your phone off and on, and then install/enable the Message+ application and test.

OK the following was completed in this order:

  1. Galaxy Note 4 > Applications > Message+ > Disabled
  2. Un-installed Message+ updates
  3. Rebooted phone
  4. Google play > Verizon Messages > Enable > Install
  5. Downloaded and installed 61.15 MB update to 'Verizon Messages"
  6. Opened Message+ via app drawer > Got the "Starting Services" popup (see below)
  7. 10 seconds later, my Pebble receives text from VZ Messages (900080004102) PIN:95xxxx
  8. No text from VZ messages found in Message+ app or Samsung "Messages" app
  9. Go to Message+ > Settings > Subscribe -- it pauses for 2 sec then returns to "Conversations" screen.
  10. Repeat Message+ > Settings > Subscribe -- it pauses for 1 sec then returns to "Conversations" screen
  11. Same as before, unable to Subscribe.

I finally got back into the portal (My Verizon Online Sign In - Verizon Wireless) and confirmed the following:

From the "Send a message" portal I CAN:

  • I CAN Send texts
  • I CAN Receive texts
  • I CAN See texts that are created and sent from my phone

From my phone's Message+ app:

  • I CAN Send texts
  • I CAN Receive texts
  • I CANNOT: See texts that were created and sent from the web portal.
  • I CAN see replies (from the recipient) to my texts that originated from the web portal.

To me, this indicates that I am not subscribed on my phone device. I just can't get the phone subscribed to the Integrated Messaging.

HI Ag3ntX,

Please try these steps to refresh the App :1 Go to Applications Manager>Verizon Messages - Select โ€˜Clear Cacheโ€™. [Be careful not to select Data]; 2 Go to Application Manager> Select Google Play Store โ€“ Select โ€˜Clear Dataโ€™. 3.You should also delete old Group conversations and photos in the app to reduce lag.

If the issue continues, please let me know

Alie,

I cleared the cache in Message+, deleted Data in Google Play, opened up Google Play > searched for Verizon Messages > it displayed "Open" > I opened it > Settings > Manage Devices > It still displays "No devices are associated with your Primary PhoneNumber". It then lists my phone number in the "Primary Device" section and nothing under "Connected Devices".

I am about to give up already.

You can use a SMS Backup application from the Play Store to archive your messages on the phone and restore them. You might also want to download and save any picture attachments separately if they are important to you.

You can then restore the messages back on the device after reinstalling the message application.

One example of such an application is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Thanks. I was able to back up the messages.
