I'm no early adopter, I just got my first cell phone with a camera a couple of weeks ago! I thought I'd be able to plug my camera into my PC and download the pictures. But my PC thinks my phone is a modem. Is there a driver I can download for my computer so it recognizes my phone? Is it possible to download my pictures without sending them in a message?
THanks.

You are correct djdisner. V-Cast Media Manager does not support the LG Accolade nor is there a 64-bit version of V-Cast Media Manager. The messaging option is the best method. Just an FYI, to send pictures to your pc, the steps are below.
1. Open the picture gallery and select the pictures
2. Select "options" then "send"
3. Select "To Online Album".
Once the picture has been sent, it can be viewed at www.vzwpix.com once you login with the "My Verizon" password.
Best of luck...

When you go into Settings and Tools>>>USB Auto Detection>>>check to see if it is set to Sync Data, Sync Music, or Ask on Plug.
Then, with the USB connected to your phone and the computer....go to Settings and Tools>>>Tools>>>USB Mass Storage. The phone should then show up in My Computer as a drive, which you can browse, and copy files to and from.
You may need to have a micro SD card installed in the phone for this to work, and the pictures may have to be saved to the card to transfer to your computer.

Have you downloaded vcast Media Manager? If not, click here http://products.verizonwireless.com/index.aspx?id=fnd_music_mediaManager to do so.
After you have done so, these are the steps to take to transfer your data.
- From the Windows desktop, click Start > (Programs) All Programs > V CAST Media Manager > V Cast Media Manager.
- Drag and drop the desired file on the destination tab (Computer /Device / CD).
Alternately, right-click the desired file then click Transfer > To Phone / To CD / To PC. - From the Transfers tab, ensure the destination location is selected then click START TRANSFER (located at the lower-left side of the screen).
- If presented, adjust as desired then click OK.
- To transfer music files to the handset, ensure the device is in synchronization mode.
- To transfer pictures / videos to the handset, ensure the device is not in synchronization mode.
- If presented, click OK.

But don't I get charged for sending pix to www.vzwpix.com? I don't have any kind of data or messsaging plan. When I got this phone 2 days ago the sales person said that the USB cable was all I needed to take pictures off of my phone.

Yes you would be charged 25 cents for each pix unless you have a text package plan.

What is interesting though, is the fact that when I bought my Accolade less than a year ago, it WAS supported by V Cast! In fact it is the main reason I purchased the Accolade from the Verizon web site in the first place! I do not use the feature often, but when I need a camera and I either don't have mine available or it is not advisable to use my camera because of circumstances such as weather, I have used the Accolade to get at least a passable image to record the days events.
Two days ago was my youngest sons Black belt test, the first part of which is a two mile run and an hour of cardio which is done outside, rain or shine. It was pouring rain as he started, so I used the Accolade to get at least some record of his efforts. Today when I tried to transfer those pix from the phone to my PC, V Cast came up with a slash screen stating that a new version was available, and I had the choice of updating, or the program would shut down. As instructed, I update to the new "improved" version, but it refused to go past the splash screen. I restarted my pc and tried again, twice, and still no good. So....I un-installed V Cast and went to the Verizon web site to re-download, thinking I got a corrupted file. It was THEN I found that my phone was no longer supported!!
I spent an hour on the phone with Customer Service, only to be told in the end that they could not, ( or rather WOULD NOT because I was a pre-paid customer ), help me. They suggested I go to a Verizon store with the phone and my lap top, and MAYBE, they could do something! Seems CS at Verizon is no better then the abysmal mess it has grown into everywhere else. I find the fact that Verizon deleted features from my phone less than a year after purchase to be disgraceful. I have tried the suggestion of e-mailing myself the pictures, but after a half hour of waiting, the first picture has not arrived! So good to know that Verizon values their customers business so much less that it values making every dime it can from them.

ArnettH, the proper response would be that V Cast NO LONGER supports the LG Accolade. It did when I bought it, and was one of my main reasons for selecting it. There was a mandatory "Update" to V Cast, after which it no longer functioned with the Accolade. I guess Verizon decided that increasing it's profits was more important than the promise it made to it's customers.

It is possible to download files from (and upload to) the LG accolade following the instructions here:
I have done this and it works.
You need to download and install an LG driver (from the LG web site:
http://www.lgforum.com/resources
Then download an install the open source program (bitpm) here:
This is my first post here, so I am not sure if those links will show up okay. If you have further questions, ask.

Unfortunately, as of this date, Sam's programs are no longer available from the websites listed. Anyone have any other clues here? I would dearly love to be able to get these photos off of my Accolade for free.

As far as I know, if you want photos off your Accolade for free, using Bitpim is your only choice. The links in the post above opened for me; not sure what you mean by "Sam's programs are no longer available from the websites".

Thank you for replying. I went to the LG website. The link to the website worked, but the list of programs to download did not include the USB driver for the Accolade. At this point, the only thing that they had available to download for the Accolade was a manual. Then I followed the BitPim link. I was able to download something there. So actually only one of the list of things do download did not work--I stand corrected. But can I take the pictures off of the camera without this USB driver from LG? Martha

When you went to the LG site, you clicked on the far right-hand column, which is why you found the manual. Click on the middle column, that's where the drivers are located.

Thank you for clarifying the issue on the LG website. I went ahead and downloaded the LG VZW_United_WHQL_v2.5.2exe that I found there. Then I began working with the BitPim. It goes fine until it tries to detect my phone--but it cannot detect my phone. I did choose the VX5500, just like the directions said. What do you think? Martha

One clue, when I first go into BitPim, I get a message that reads, "Other CDMA phone detected." I get the feeling it thinks that my Accolade VX 5600 is not on its list of phones it works with? Martha
