i really want to upload the 21khz (e) ultrasonic ringtone to my phone, but i cannot find a way to do so, whenever i use verizons website to send the mms it fails to upload the file saying it is 38 seconds long when in fact it is only 2.06 seconds long...well this bugged me so i tried a few other audio files, and after properly converting them with audacity (22khz/32kbps/mono/mp3) i found that i cannot upload any mp3's , the weblog says they are all too long - the weblog says that some are as long as 380seconds when i'm only trying to upload a 17 second clip of my own voice, i know this is not a copyright issue but an issue with the verizon network itself. i'm seriously considering cancelling both lines of service and going to a provider who isn't as concerned with making money off of ringtones... /rant
help?
btw i have an alias, but that doesnt matter as the problem is with the website itself..i have also tried emailing my ptn@vzwpix but it just says reject/rejected when i rcv the msg. if this is a data plan issue, then why am i allowed to rcv stupid spam animated gifs but not non-copywrited mp3s?
again, help?

First off, you CAN create your own ringtone and sent them via email. I have been doing it with VZW for years now. Some things that I noticed in your post. There was a mention of 38 second. I have found that any mp3 you upload over 38 seconds will be CONVERTED to something like a QCELP file which sounds horrible.
Here is how I make my ringers in a nutshell
I use cooledit pro 2.0 ( acquired version )
I make sure any copy protection AND mp3 tags are removed
I select my selection, convert it to mono, then save it as mp3 64kps ( 32000 bit sampling )
I have never had a problem creating any ringtone for anyone, except some AT&T phones.
If there is copy protection, you can use tunebite to strip it ( acquired version of course )

http://www.ultrasonic-ringtones.com/ is where i got the ringtone from, i then converted the file from 44khz sampling stereo to 22khz sampling mono , i then used mp3tag to make sure there were no id3 tags (i did this before your post as it just made sense that a phone could not read id3) , i then tried to upload the files using myptn@vzwpix.com but i can only open the sms, when i hit download it says rejected and then when i delete the sms/mms it says "REJECT" as if my phone is talking sh*t to me. this is seriously not cool. every program that i have opened these mp3s with show them as the proper/actual length, it is only verizon that believes my mp3/s is/are 1900% longer than it/they actually is/are.
list of programs i have tried as of now:
adobe cs4
cooledit pro
sony soundforge
mp3tag
itunes
winamp
vlc 1.0.0
tunebite
abelton suite
pro tools le 7.4 (m-audio usb adapter from newegg 99 bucks what)
audacity 1.3
i've now dedicated over 7 hours to trying to (unsuccessfully) upload a 2 second ringtone to my phone, thank you for making this so difficult verizon.

i just yanked the battery, reset the phone to factory defaults, yanked the battery again, deleted all contacts, deleted all recent calls, deleted all recent text messages, deleted all previously downloaded from vcast ringtones & i still get the same result - receipt failed. (for some reason factory reset does not clear contacts, calls, texts, ringtones, etc. - it only resets the phones settings) .... so i'm guessing sometime after the alias came out verizion rolled out a software update that made the alias only able to play vcast music...drm sucks, especially when it's implemented on a scale this broad. so to sum it all up, i have an alias and verizon will not let me add my own ringtones, i MUST purchase what they allow me to, nothing more. are you feeling warm and fuzzy yet?
p.s. i hate you verizon.
