I do not want to use google for my messaging.
Verizon needs to deduct any monthly fee I will have to pay for a new sms/mms messaging app.
What is the reasoning for discontinuing message+?

I had to dig around on the internet elsewhere, but something elsewhere said Messages+ has been around since 2011, which makes it a pretty old app. I am speculating, but would have to say Verizon doesn't want to support it anymore due to it being outdated, or needing to keep up with whatever security risks it poses. Updating it to where it does RCS and whatever else people expect out of their texting apps in these days would be overly costly and drive up our phone bills even more.
There isn't any charge to use Google Messages or iMessages, depending on your phone persuasion and Google has put their apps on so many Android phones they got sued for monopolizing the market a few years ago. Samsung used to have their own texting app built into their phones, but has discontinued it in favor of Google apps.

Why is Verizon discontinuing Message+?
The message space is rapidly changing and we want you to have the best messaging experience:
- Rich Communications Service (RCS) provides a more interactive and modern messaging experience in Google Messages.
- Google Messages is now preloaded on all Verizon Android devices.
- Starting with iOS 18, iPhone users also can communicate using RCS.

Shouldn't customers have a choice whether to use RCS or not? Google.messaging has the option not to use RCS. If I choose not to use RCS with Google Messages, why can't I continue to use Message +?
My service includes message + and.googlr is inferior to message +. There is.no comparable app. Why doesn't verizon add an RCS option to message +?

Verizon should reimburse customers if they have to pay for a new sms/mms app to replace message+
