messaging us number that is currently overseas

Okay, even the people at Verizon can't seem to answer this and it shouldn't be hard to answer. 

My friend went on a mission trip to Ireland.  She's from here so she has a US number.  When I get a message from her or send her one, does it charge me extra?  I mean, I'm just texting a US number from US towers so, I don't see why it would come ME more.  I understand that her operating her device while overseas cost HER more but does it cost ME more?
