Is there a way to view your minor childs messaging content-not just who the text was sent to or received from?

Yea, go get the phone and look at it is the ONLY to do so. there is no way to look at content of someone elses text even if a minor child, you can't even get or see your own ........

The phone is on my plan and I can see content on  my number

If you have the desktop/laptop Message+ app and install it using your childs number, then you should be able to see the messages.  Assuming they're using Verizon's Message+.
