I'm having problems sending text messages from my desktop computer to vtext and vzwpix addresses.

Here's one that failed today:

... WKTV in Utica.

Are there too many characters?  Or is it another problem?

Looks like the receiving end thinks you are Spam and is rejecting your emails.  I would bet that at one point or another a massive amount of spam came from something @ 69.78.67.XXX but thats just my uninformed shot in dark of a guess, but I know its happened before.

what exactly are you sending?  I've had problems with attachments that are the wrong file type...

And FWIW its probably not the best idea to put that phone number on a public forum...just sayin'

I changed the phone number (and the email)

That's it.  Just text.  No attachments.

Text messages should be sent to 10-digit-phone-number@vtext.com with no leading "1", only area code and phone number, no spaces or dashes.  No special characters in the email, or signatures, or any formatting, nothing but straight text.

If you attach a picture, then send it to vzwpix.com

That's it.  are the "...." considered special characters?

I'm sending from Mac Mail.  Settings are "plain" text , not "rich" text.

I don't understand why these messages can't be delivered.

What exactly are you sending?  Is this going to a Verizon cell phone number?

Quote marks would not be considered special characters.

what you see is what I sent.

Subject is : "Sent to..."

text of the message is "... WKTV in Utica"

that's it.  No attachments.  Nothing else.

Your example shows vzpix, but text should go to Vtext.com, otherwise I can't see why your messages aren't going through.  Perhaps you should try sending those messages throught the www.vtext.com website and see if the problem persists, at leas that way you know if its on the originating end or the receiving end...

I've been using both @vtext and @vzwpix---  same result

I'll try the website

here's the error message:

SMTP error from remote server in greeting:

host smtp-sl.vtext.com[69.78.67.53]:

554 txslspamp4.vtext.com

does that give anyone any clues as to why these messages are failing?

The phone number before the @vtext and @vzwpix must be a Verizon cell phone number or it won't be recognized.  Each carrier has it's own "email" address for sending pic and text messages via your computer to phones.

OK--just making sure.  Then most likely, is correct; your IP is somehow flagged as sending spam.  How you change that, I have no idea...  Smiley Sad

I'm going to try from a different email account, my RoadRunner account.
