question about text messaging/ international

Hi,

I have been studying abroad for about two months now and unlocked my verizon phone and inserted a UK sim card. When i get home I understand I will probably receive none of the messages sent to my phone within the last two months, but I read online that information such as who sent it/time can be retrieved. Is this possible?

Thanks,

jessica

That information should be available for the current billing period in MyVerizon. Further back than that I am afraid you are out of luck.

For future reference, you can sign up for Verizon's integrated messaging and get your messages on a computer/tablet when they are sent to your Verizon cell #. That way you could even access them when you did not have access to your cell phone on the Verizon network(or active with a UK sim card).

From my homepage, under "Account Management" I click "View Usage".

On the resulting page, under "Messaging" I click "View Messaging Details".

It appears you must be the account owner to access messaging details.

As to turning your messaging on online, I don't know if you will be able to do so. You may have to call CS *611 from your phone to do so.

You can view your messaging details for past bill cycles by going to "View Bill" then selecting the billing period you want the data from and then clicking on the "Calls, Messages and Data" tab.

That is correct, messaging details are available online for the last 3 billing periods. But you would still have to be the account owner to access this info.

Thank you all for taking the time to help out! I really appreciate it.

@jessicamontes,

I definitely understand the importance of being able to view your past messaging usage. As everyone has stated you can view message details online via My Verizon for the last 3 months. However, you need to be signed in as the account owner in order to view the details.

Please keep in mind that the usage details will only appear if the message was delivered to the phone. If you never received the text message the details will not appear online.

Here are the steps to check the detailed usage:

Sign in to My Verizon.
Click the View Current Bill link in the My Bill pod.
If desired, choose a billing period from the drop down box. Note

The Bill Summary screen displays. Note

Click Charges By Line for a summary of charges by mobile number.
• Click a link for Account Charges and Credits or any mobile number to expand additional detail.
• Click Shared Usage for detailed usage and charges by sharing mobile numbers.
• Click Calls, Messages & Data for detailed usage and charges by mobile number. The page defaults to Voice details.
• Select the desired mobile number in the Details for: drop down list.

If you chose Messaging or Data, select a Usage Type from the drop down list. The page refreshes details automatically.

Keep me posted if you need further assistance.
