The only possbile way of doing this would be through the Verizon Security Assistance Team which deals with specfiic inquiries such as this from law enforcement, court appionted officials, and attorney's with the legal credentials to request this info (possibly need a court subpoena).

There is no specific number from what I have gathered but as long as the above mentioned individuals call in and ask to speak with this team and have the proper credentials to request this info they can obtain it but I don't know any more specifics beyond this as I myself don't have the legal credentials to request this info for myself or another person.

Also, 3-5 days is all that is ever stored and so time is of the essence if you are going to have a legal request submitted for, if nothing else, to preserve the content....

Did you have a hand-held cell phone in your hand? This ALSO falls under the same texting/driving laws. It doesn't necessarily have to be a "text". Any use of the phone in your hands while behind the wheel of a car could also be considered a violation. Were you in the car, behind the wheel and in traffic? Stopped at a red light would STILL be considered "driving".

Emailing, messaging via some other platform, typing a web address, etc... would ALL fall into the violation category of most texting & driving laws and would not show up in any texting history Verizon would be able to provide you.

For example, the following is a description of New York's law regarding texting & driving:

NEW YORK STATE'S MOBILE PHONE and PORTABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICE LAWS

New York prohibits all drivers from using portable electronic devices.

Illegal activity includes holding a portable electronic device and:

  • Talking on a handheld mobile telephone
  • Composing, sending, reading, accessing, browsing, transmitting, saving, or retrieving electronic data such as e-mail, text messages, or webpages
  • Viewing, taking, or transmitting images
  • Playing games

The law defines the following terms as:

(a) "Portable electronic device" shall mean any hand-held mobile telephone, as defined by subdivision one of section twelve hundred twenty-five-c of this article, personal digital assistant (PDA), handheld device with mobile data access, laptop computer, pager, broadband personal communication device, two-way messaging device, electronic game, or portable computing device.

(b) "Using" shall mean holding a portable electronic device while viewing, taking or transmitting images, playing games, or composing, sending, reading, viewing, accessing, browsing, transmitting, saving or retrieving e-mail, text messages, or other electronic data.

Good luck.
