vzwpix phone number question

I thought when receiving a picture text, the ten digit phone # would show, like 1234567890@vzwpix.com. What would be a picture text from a five digit #, like 12345@vzwpix.com be from? Any ideas? The number is 80366 if that helps.

This was a text pic received, not sent.

Hi meme123!

I'd like to help you figure this one out. First, does the message come in as 80366@vzwpix.com or as 80336?

If it comes in as 80336@vzwpix.com, this can be from the sender creating a "nickname" for themselves at Pix Place. When this is done, the message comes through as their nickname instead of their mobile number. Without a nickname, the message would have come through as their mobile number @vzwpix.com (xxx-xxx-xxxx@vzwpix.com). The only way you would know who the message came from is if you know their nickname at Pix Place.

Did you recognize the picture when it came in? If so, this can indicate who it came from. If not, it could have been sent in error.

You do have the ability to block up to 15 email addresses online, so this address can be blocked if it came in as 80336@vzwpix.com. Just log in to your My Verizon Account and follow the steps below.

  1. Sign in to My Verizon.

  2. Locate the I Want To... section.

  3. Select More Actions.

  4. In the Safety & Security column, click Block Internet Spam.

  5. Select appropriate MDN fromBlock Details for drop-down (if applicable).

  6. Click the Internet Spam Blocking tab.

  7. Enter the email address, domain or text names (nickname@vtext.com).

  8. Select Message Blocking Preferences:

    • Block all text messages sent from the web.

    • Block all text messages sent from email.

  9. ClickApply button.

I hope this information is helpful. Have a good day!

This will continue to be an excalating problem as long as Verizon Wireless refuses to even RECOGNIZE that it is NOT providing customers with an option to block messages sent from the web.

As long as someone provides a cell phone number to LOOK as though it is the sender - as if the message is coming FROM a cell phone, not the web - then Verizon Wireless deludes itself into thinking that the problem is spoofing. There are any number of programs which allow someone to send an SMS where the sender will appear to be a valid cell phone number.

The company is clueless if it will claim that it will "Block all text messages sent from the web", while BLATANTLY IGNORING THE FACT THAT IT IS NOT DOING SO. The issue is not spoofing the sender's number, it's that the messages are not only not sent from the number shown, but not sent from ANY number at all. They are SENT FROM THE WEB.

The "spoof" is that Verizon doesn't understand - or more accurately, REFUSES to recognize -  that the masquaraded number isn't the point, rather it is the method, the origin, where the message is coming FROM - THE WEB. These messages are NOT being blocked. They ARE spam

Message Blocking Preferences
These settings apply to all messages from any sender.

Block all text messages sent from the web

is a complete and utter lie

I have been receiving these types of texts with a phone number and the @vzwpix.com at all hours of the night and day.  The originator of the text has a gmail address. There will be 20 people in a group and the message contains a link to click for the pic.  Problem is, it is a porn movie, pic, etc.  I have a block on those sites and I have gone to the Verizon website and checked those places to block texts from email.  I am still receiving those texts.   I continue to block the numbers and I am totally frustrated with this situation.

Is there ANYTHING that can be done to stop this?

I am sorry for the hassle this has caused as we want to offer you the best possible tools to get these messages to stop, mdefoor54. To confirm, these messages are always addressed to your number @vzwpix.com? Is the originator always from the same Gmail address? Did you block messages from email and click block messages from the web?  YaleK_VZW

The messages are coming from different gmail addresses. Yes I have blocked messages from the web and email and still receiving these unwanted messages in groups of 17-20 in the wee hours of the morning.

The messages are a mobile [email address removed per the Verizon Terms of Service]. But there is a gmail address associated with each one as well.

Any suggestions?

is there a way to find the owner of the 5 digit nickname? I monitor my family’s account and I’ve seen this on my kids line. I want to know who the sender is to make sure they’re not being contacted by an adult.
