my wife in the US cannot send texts to my phone in Europe, but I can send her texts OK. The SIM card I am using provides a US phone number. Her voice calls to me on that number are OK, but text messages don't go through.

I'm sorry your wife is having issues with messaging you MartyBItaly. I know how important it is to communicate with her. What phone does she have? What error message does she receive when she text you?

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. My wife has a Samsung Intensity II phone. Her number is (removed). The number she is calling and texting me at is (removed). Her phone calls come through to me, but not texts.
The cell service (SIM card) that I’m using is from JT Global, it is their international SIM card. The provide the US number (above) and a UK number. You have my permission to send me a test text.
I can send texts to her and she receives them. I can send and receive texts from other people.
I was able to receive texts from her using this same service while we were both in the US.
Hope this helps in diagnosing the problem.

Thanks for the information MartyBItaly. Are the text on her device green, meaning does it show sent on her phone when she sends you a text in Europe? If her phone is showing sent, the issue may be with your phone. Keep us posted.

I will have her check the phone indications. But, we tried texting from
her phone to mine while I was in the US and it worked fine. I am also
getting texts from other people OK. Try sending me a text at the number
in my previous message.

Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot. Are other Verizon Wireless users able to message you? Does she need to use a different dialing pattern for voice calls?
Thank you,

Another Verizon Wireless user using an iPhone tried sending a text and
it didn't go through. The local Verizon shop also tried texting and it
didn't come through. But, tech support for the SIM card provider,
located in the USA (Boston) did send me a successful text, but I don't
know what network they were using.

MartyBItaly,
Thank you for all the information you have tried. Has you wife tried texting you using the international dialing code for Europe, enter 011 then 44 and then the number?

No, as stated previously, she is texting to a US number. The SIM card
has both a US and a UK number that both go to the phone.

Is any action being taken by Verizon tech support on this? My wife was recently in the Indianapolis area and suddenly a few text messages came through from her to me for a short period of time. I suspect she was in a roaming area and that the other service provider was able to transfer messages to me, while Verizon can't seem to.

It's a miracle, texts from Verizon cell phones to my US number are finally being transferred to my phone in Europe, though I found out by accident and not any help from tech support.

Hi MartyBItaly:
I have the same issue!!! My parents are in Europe and they are texting me fine, I am getting all of their texts. They can't receive any of mine, though!!!! I have tried various country codes (for Germany) in different variations. My plan supposedly supports texting to Europe. I even have added an International Plan so I can call them in Germany as well. That works fine. Just the texting is not working.
How did you figure out how to receive your wives' texts?????? I would appreciate the help!
Thank you!!!

BeeSwan,
Let's look further into this! Are you on our MORE Everything plan and are your parent's using Verizon Wireless? If you are in the U.S. and texting U.S. number you can text normally to the 10 digit number. If your parent's aren't with Verizon Wireless please ensure they are using a participating carrier here http://vz.to/1BbPQOQ Thank you.

Dear Verizon Team,
Thank you for looking into this. My family in Germany is using a
participating provider, namely Vodafone. I still can't figure out why I do
receive their texts just fine, but they cannot receive any of mine ... I
have tried multiple variations of their number i.e. 01149 174xxxxxxx; 0049
174xxxxxxx or even without the country code, just plain 0174 xxxxxxx ...
Nothing worked. The number they have been texting me is the 011 49 174
xxxxxxx ... Even when I just went with "reply" to their text that came in,
they did not receive my answer.
I even tried to turn my Messenger off, as one user had suggested because it
had worked for him. No luck ...
Oh and the funny thing is, I can text a friend of my mothers in Germany who
has the same exact cell phone that they have! I have put her number in the
same way as my parents': 011 49 176 xxxxxxxx ...
Its a mystery that we can't figure out. My folks took their cell phone to
their provider and had them look it over and text between the sales rep and
them and checked all the setting etc. and Vodafone swears its not them ...
I am pretty sad because I'm by myself in the States and it would be so
wonderful to just send a txt (or even with a pic attached) whenever I would
want (calling is a bit complicated because of the time difference).
I would be so very grateful if we could figure it out!
Thank you so very much!

Thanks for replying Beate. Let's look into this together. Are you able to send texts to other numbers here in the US? What device do you have? What device are you trying to text to? Have you both deleted all old messages? Here's a link with the dialing instructions: http://vz.to/17KseUf

Hi there,
I can text to any number in the US just fine (and receive texts as well
from any number in the US). I have an Iphone 5C and my parents have a Doro
Primo 405 (it is the same cell phone I was able to text to, that their
friend owns).
All of my parents' texts are coming through and I still have them. None of
mine went through but they still appear in the feed with their texts.
I also checked the dialing instructions from the link you sent and I am
doing everything that was described ... ?
I am truly not sure what the problem is. I hope we can figure it out.
Thank you so much!!!

Thank you for your reply! Did you have the opportunity to erase the message thread and then start a new message?
Thank you,

I did. But every time they text me (I receive their messages!) it starts a
new thread. I always answer them - I guess I just hope very time it might
get to them. It never does.
Thanks,
Beate

Samsung Intensity II. She doesn’t get any error messages. She was able to text me in the US using the same SIM card and US number
