how do I unlock a Droid Ultra?

My Verizon contract is about to expire so I am considering moving to a different carrier that may require that I have an unlocked phone.  I do I get Verizon to unlock my phone?

All Verizon 4G phones are sold unlocked.  But, you will still not be able to use it on any carrier that does not support the bands and frequencies that the phone works on...namely, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T or any of their prepaid spin-off carriers. 

Unlocked means, not locked to a carrier.  That does not mean that it will work on any carrier.  There are hardware limitations.
