$20.21 credit card charge for VERIZON*DIGITAL CHAT E. What is it? Why is the charge on a credit card instead of in a monthly bill?

My credit card has a charge of $21.20 with the source "VERIZON*DIGITAL CHAT E"  .

1) Why would Verizon put the charge on my credit card, rather than placing the charge in my monthly bill?

2) What is VERIZON*DIGITAL CHATE E" ? I did not order or use it. 63 minutes at 800-922-0204 and transfers to 5 people found none of the 5 knew what it was or had even heard of it.

3) I did not find an explaination of VERIZON*DIGITAL CHAT E" on the Verizonwireless.com web site.

4) I found other people with the same problem. The questions always end with the Verizonwireless representative refering to a private email, but never posting what it is or why it was charged.

1) Reasons for the charge could be listed publically without revealing any account-specific details. You do not need to give out account-specific details.

2) I tried to reply to the Dec 10, 2020 email from but the email was refused with the message:

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

This is confusing.

What am I to replay to? Reply to the email? Reply to who ever from the verizonwireless.com forum sent a reply to my question. That was a private message reply, so do I try to learn how to send a private message to someone?

My reply to the email was rejected by the recipient. 

I will wait a day to see if anything happens and then try to figure out how who replied to my question and how to send a private message to that address.

It'd be easier to issue a charge back since all a Verizon agent would see are payments you made to your account. Customer support is free so a charge like that comes off as suspicious.

Thanks for your help, Tigerstep, but I still do not know how to remove the charge or how all Verizonwireless customers can prevent the charge from occuing.

Customer support was no help. After 62 minutes (mostly on hold) and being transferred among 5 people in various departments, none of them knew what it was.

Verizon fraud department said Verizon is not concerned with fraud against customers. The fraud departmen person said I should report the charge to my bank or credit card company. 

If Verizon made the charge to my credit card, then refusing to pay the charge would cause Verizonwireless to charge an additional late charge. And, the credit card company would give me a new credit card number and block the old one, creting complications for me.

Please understand that I appreciate your concern.

You should reply to the private message sent from the VZW rep in the Verizon Wireless Community forum. Next to your profile image at the top of the community page, there is an envelope symbol that will have a number in an orange circle over it. Click on the envelope to open the private message inbox within the community forum. Click on the message to open it up to read and reply as necessary.

The email notification of the privacy message is just that a notification. It doesn't allow replying via email. Personally I think it really shouldn't even include the text of the message in the notification. Other forum that use the same platform only send a notification to indicate you received a private message and to go to the forum to read it.

VERIZON*DIGITAL CHAT E 800-922-0204 FL. I got this shortly after I bought a Verizon iPad.   It was the local and state......SALES TAX.  I added the two tax amounts up and they matched the charge.....EXACTLY.   Verizon Reps do not know this. They cannot find records of this. You have to look through your Verizon receipts and find the SALES TAX.
