Are calls claiming to be Verizon Loyalty Dept legitimate or a phishing scam?

I've received several calls from [Removed] claiming to be from Verizon Loyalty Dept.  Is this legitimate or a phishing scam?  I didn't answer the calls. They went to voicemail.
