It's difficult to give a concise answer without knowing what plan you are on.

However as SuzyQ said, you can get a data boost for $15 if you're on the new Verizon plan. In many instances it doesn't really make sense to do that, when for $20 you can go to the next data tier which will give you more than 1 GB of data.

You can switch to a higher data tier, but make sure you backdate it to the beginning of your current billing cycle, this way you won't get hit with any pro-rated charges. You can then go in and make another plan change back to your current data tier, but you will set that to take place starting on your next billing cycle.

This means your next bill will be about $20 higher (to pay for the difference of moving to the higher data plan), and starting on your next statement you will have your normal data allowance. However the advantage of doing this method is that while it will cost you $5 more than using a data boost, you'll get at least 2GB of more data (depending on what plan you're on), and whatever amount of the new data you don't use from the new plan, will be brought in to the next billing period as carryover data.

If you use the data boost, while it will cost you only $15 more, and will be carried over, I would just move to the higher tier this way you're less likely to run out moving forward (as your usage seems to have increased) as well as you getting to carry over more data (at least 2GB instead of 1GB)

With reward points?  No, but you can activate Safety Mode (slow data) and pay no overage fees but keep using very slow data.  Or buy a data boost for $15 ...

Is there anything that happened that made you use the data quicker than expected for this billing period?
