Can I transfer a Phone line to a $10 iPad plan?

I have a smartphone line under my share plan that is under contract for another year or so. Can I activate an iPad on that line and convert it to a $10 plan? I hear their policies changed recently so I want to know if this is possible as of late?

Thanks

Yes, as long as you already have the iPad, and are not planning to use an upgrade for it. you cannot do alternate upgrades with different types of devices, however you can switch them out freely.

I do have the LTE iPad4 (That is currently not activate with a plan or line). So if I take it into Verizon to have it activated on this line that is currently $40, this will convert it to a $10 plan? I was told by a CSR that it wouldn't change to $10, but I wanted to double check.

I don't believe you can do this switch from a smartphone to an iPad. From a smartphone to a basic phone, yes, but not to an iPad.

Basically, what you are attempting to do is to create a loophole where someone can purchase a smartphone at a $400+ discount, and then instead of paying the line charge of $30/$40 per month for 2 years they would only pay $10/month.

I think you are correct that Verizon changed their policy on this practice to close this loophole. Can't hurt to try, though.

Yes they would be able to. I've done it. It's not considered a "loophole" due to the fact regardless of the device purchased, it still has a 2 year contract on the line itself. The phone doesn't have to be there, so they can, switch to the iPad that they have and activate it on their plan for 10$ a month.

It's considered a device ID swap with Pre-owned equipment, the line keeps its contract though.

Like I said, it can't hurt to try, but I would still be surprised if the OP is able to do this. I hope they let us know how it works out.

I was able to do it about a year ago, just wanting to make sure it was

still doable.
