I had a single line smartphone plan. My contract just expired, and shortly after I ported my number to another carrier. My device now shows as "suspended", but it's not clear to me if I need to take further action to cancel my service and not be billed. I understand that I'll need to pay for the entire final month even though I only had service for part of it, but I just want to know if I need to wait on hold forever to cancel over the phone, or if I'm already done. Thanks!

Verizon Wireless doesn't prorate the final bill. The line is suspended for the remainder of the current billing cycle. You need to pay that bill for the same billing cycle.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

You are done. No need to call verizon. Your port cancels that line on the account.
Have a great time at your new provider.
Good Luck
