Sounds like you have pending changes on the account that won't take affect until the beginning of the next billing cycle. You can wait until the first day of your billing cycle to change your phone number for free through your MyVerizon account online or you can call customer service at 1-800-922-0204 from a landline or *611 from another Verizon phone and request assistance in changing the phone number. There is a fee to have the customer service rep change it over the phone.
