We have one smartphone with a data plan and one dumb clamshell. What isn't clear is that the terms and conditions will be of the shared data plan for both of us if we upgrade the clamshell to a smartphone. Do we still get 5 Gb for $30 or is Verizon going to trim that down exposing us to overage charges?
I am not happy about the ambiguity that is floating around and Verizon doesn't seem to understant two key issues.
First, I need to be able to get straight answers. CSRs don't have the answers
Second, while a shared data plan sounds a lot better than two $30 data plans, if I come out worse, that would really be a deal breaker.
1gig is 50$ 4 is $70 there charging you more for the ability to share. And if you upgrade you can either be on tired plans or the new plans.

Each smartphone will be $40 so a total of $80 for you PLUS whatever data package you chose. The lowest priced data package is $50 which is 1 GB shared between both of you. So the minimum for you is $130 for 2 smartphones and 1 GB of data. Not counting taxes and fees etc etc. They don't offer 5 GB but you can get 4 GB for $70 or 6 GB for $80.

I sure am glad I got my 4G Ipad. Now on this plan I can walk around and have 4G speed on my Iphone with no extra cost for the Mobile Hot Spot. In reality to me, this plan doesnt save me money, but it does give me benefits I did not have before at no extra cost. I may even save like 2 - 3 bucks if I try hard enough.
This only hurts hardcore users. Will make them switch (more bandwidth for me) or move to Wifi spots more.
Right now I have 1400 minutes, 1000 msgs on both phones, and an extra dummy phone that is 9.99.

I did a check on my usage. We never go over 3 Gbs a month. So i could probably get by on a 4 Gb, But probably will go 6 for possible increase since ill have 4G. So, lets do that math.

That is a SAVINGS of 20 bucks (really 10, because my dummy phone for 10 bucks isnt included as I will get rid of it) and i also get to use my 4G iPad as a mobile hotspot. That means I can use my Mac Air when I want to as well.
I could probably save another 10 bucks by dropping it to 4 GB, which I may after i check my usage.
I am going to jump on this plan as soon as it hits.
HEY CL people isn't there a TOS rule about duplicating posts on different threads ? I mean I'm not here to stifle discussion, but I do recall references to duplicate posts, OK maybe I'm wrong but anyone concerned with the threads has already seen the exact same post by this guy in at least two other threads, the least he could do is re-word it. Anyway glad to hear it will help 'someone' I guess they dreamed it up just for this guy.

As for the OP. Existing customers don't have to switch to the Share Everything plans when they upgrade. The current per line data tiers will also be available (at least until Verizon decides to change that too) so you could upgrade the dumbphone and add 2,5 or 10GB of data for it to use without affecting your smartphone line. For some, this method is cheaper than switching to the Share Everything plan.
