As bad as it is, That is correct if you have the new Share Everything plan
Actually it could be the same or better than the old plans. Under the old plans in our case only the main line( out of 4 total) got a discount( 20% ) and they didn't even get one on data. They get the discount applied to the unlimited family texting. So out $240 the discount only gets applied to $90 or $18 discount. Now if we switched to Share Everything and got 8 GB of data( which would match the 8 GB combined we currently get ) we still get a discount off of $90( cost of 8 GB ) of the bill or the same $18. If we decided we wanted more data say 20 GB we would get a discount on $150 or $30. We wouldn't get any further discounts on the old pans if we all decided to upgrade to 5 GB each( 20 GB total ). So in that case Share Everything is better.
So with 20% discount
Old plan - 700 minutes, unlimited texting, 5 GB each $302 before taxes.
Share Everything - unlimited minutes/text, 20 GB shared $280 before taxes.
So really it depends. At least it''s simpler to know exactly what you are getting the discount on.
