Disappointed.......

Just connected the dots and am very disappointed in Verizon's business practice when it comes to the trade-in program.

This subject has been beat to death but I decided to post this to get others opinions on the matter.

With the trade-in program, people are having many issues with Verizon providing falsified information when it comes to the condition of the phones.....primarily with iPhones.

If you guys haven't looked, Verizon is now offering the iPhone 4 CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) for $99.99 on prepaid!

My question is, why do they have so many gently used iPhone 4's? And how can they offer them so cheap on pre-paid service?

Because they take those great condition iPhones customers sent in on the trade-in program, tell the customer they were broken/cracked so they can pay the customer next to nothing for it. Then they are re-selling the devices on their pre-paid plans for dirt cheap to entice customers and generate tons of revenue.

Now I am a Verizon supporter, I have the service and love the coverage. And so far had no billing/customer service issues with them, but this is nothing but backdoor dealing........and this is something I wanted to call them out on.

I wonder how much money they have made doing this, and why the BBB hasn't took notice.......

It's like I stated in a post yesterday.  They need to revamp the trade-in process.  It should only occur face-to-face in store with a certified mobile device appraiser.  Where-in the inspection/appraisal is made based on several common points.  Then following the inspection the appraiser quotes a hard trade-in value that is printed and signed by both the customer and store manager.  With this process the store manager could issue Verizon gift card on the spot, because at the time of appraisal the device was found to be functional and in excellent, good or fair condition. Then from that point forward the phone is now property of Verizon and it is the Verizon employees responsibility to ensure that the traded in device arrives, via parcel service, in the same condition it was at the appraisal.

The process described is the same sort of process used to valuate a trade-in vehicle.  Not one of us would send our vehicle off to be appraised out of our site because we want to make sure everything is on the up and up, so that we get the most value toward our next vehicle purchase and no way I would take a evaluators word that the check (in this case - Gift Card) is in the mail..... Heck no!! If Verizon continues to let the Trade-in program run the way it is... Then they will be paying out on yet another class action judgement...

Just one more point about the car trade-in analogy.... Once the quote for a trade-in vehicle is made, agreed upon and signed for then that is that.  If afterwards the dealer discovers a major problem that requires a lot of money to fix... Then it's the dealerships loss.  They do not chase down the customer and re-quote the trade in value and ask the customer to issue them a check for the difference.  They will just increase the asking price for the next customer based on how far into the car the dealership is at that time.

This is why I have a drawer of back-up phones.

It makes no sense to trade in my Galaxy S3 for $66, when they were (Verizon no longer offers the full size GS3) selling used GS3's for  $300, or free with a 2 year contract.

Fuck Verizon... They overcharge you and have zero customer support when you try and get reimbursed for your overcharges.

lizdance40, we have options if you have a drawer full of phones not being used. You can check the trade-in value here: http://vz.to/1j0alI8 . If the trade-in program is not a good fit you can always sell your equipment or donate to the hopeline. The Hopeline provides cellphones to victims of domestic violence. You can see the details here: http://vz.to/1adNYvt .

I'm not sure what happen with my trade in, I'm a new customer (came over from sprint) who signed up because of the promotion Verizon was running for a 100.00 trade in credit for a smartphone. I signed up and got 2 new smart phones and then had a heck of a time getting my promo codes. Finally got the promo codes and the shipping envelops from Verizon, sent in 2 perfect moto photons, got my credit the other day for 7.00 per phone!?? I'm just at a loss, I never would have recycled these phones if I knew this would happen. The 100 credit per phone was a reason for switching carriers, and then this is how Verizon treats a new customer? The also told me on the phone when I signed up that my activation would be waived as part of the promotion, well guess what, that didn't happen until I called in 3 times. Pretty disappointed in Verizon, not much more to say.

Im new to vzn.  I need to change my billing date to the end of the month to avoid late fees.  I thought it was complete when I had spoken with customer service.  On my current bill it states that the billing date is NOT at the end of the month.  How do I make sure that this gets changed?  I cannot stand that its so difficult to actually speak with a person.  Extremely Customer Service .   I am going to switch to t-mobile.. they will buy out your contract.  Nothing is worse than paying for a service and getting HORRIBLE customer service.  I work very hard for my money and I am tired of giving to a company that does NOT appreciate it.   There is power in numbers and if more people join with one another as consumers then  the company loses its power.  I am a new customer to Verizon and what a shame.. they are already losing it their competitors.

T-Mobile unlike verizon will Dunn you via text messages of the billing date and payment time. I dropped them because of it. You can change a bill date with them but they have a way of changing it back again and again. They are a real hassle.

Good Luck

Hi TrooperGirl,

We don't want you to be upset! I know getting your bill date is very important. Once we make a change to your bill cycle date it can take one full billing cycle to complete. When looking at your bill your close date will be different from the due date. I want you to love us and would not want to see you leave us. Please let us know if I can help with anything esle.

Thanks, BobbyS_VZW
