I have blocked an area code to keep someone from texting me as they keep changing numbers, will this work or does it only block calls from that area code and NOT text?
welp a text came in from the blocked area code-- so that answers that.. why is that not a thing verizon?
First and foremost, it saddens us to hear that you're receiving unwanted calls to your phone number.
When using the Call Filter feature, our customers will need to manually add the phone number(s) to be blocked.
As a friendly reminder, Call Filter screens incoming callers to alert you if a number may be spam, a robocall or fraud. If your device isn't compatible with the Call Filter app, you may still be able to use Call Filter through My Verizon.*
Please note, Call Filter is not available on all calls, on all equipment, or in all areas. Caller ID is not available for restricted or unlisted numbers. Call Filter cannot yet identify or automatically block spam calls that originate outside of the US, but customers with an eligible device can now block all incoming calls from international numbers if they choose. Data charges apply.

It's great to know that you're using our Call Filter application to manage spam. The Neighborhood Spoofing filter that you are referring to does not block all texts or calls from an area code, and was never intended to do so. Spoofing is when a spammer mimics the first 6 digits of your phone number to trick you into thinking that it is a local number calling. You'll still get calls or texts from numbers that only partially match those 6 digits, since they don't meet the filter requirements. Depending on the Call Filter version you have, you can add up to 10 of these filters to cover a wide range of potential spam, and can still report those that do manage to get through via other means.
