We were under the impression that each of the three phones got ten numbers- and it appears to be 10 numbers to be shared by the three phones. What's the deal?

You've pretty much answered it. Really, you simply assumed. Verizon Wireless never insinuated that Friends & Family was on a per-line basis.

i unfortunately made the same assumption, you would think if you added a 3rd line they would give you 5 more, so each line had 5 calls, but i guess not...
the only good part from what i gather is that the 10 numbers are shared by all the lines, so if you got mutual contacts your in luck in that manner...

John and GCON,
The friends and family deal is actually NOT on a per line basis. Its 10 numbers TOTAL for the lines that you have to share. 😃
Hey, if that doesnt work, the cheapest single plan that will give EACH individual plan their own 5 numbers is only $59.99. 😃
but thats 900 anytime minutes PLUS 5 fam and friends that ARENT on Verizon wireless.
