How do I get voicemail to work correctly?

Voicemail - when someone call my phone, they get a message that voicemail is not set up.  yet, if I call voicemail, I'm prompted for my password.  How do I get voicemail to work correctly?

Paproops, having a working voice-mail is important when you miss calls. It sounds like yours isn't setup yet. You can do that by following the steps here >> http://vz.to/1NtCBiM Your default password is usually 1 plus the last 4 digits of your phone number. Please let us know if this works for you.

Which phone model do you have? Are you using the basic non-visual voicemail or a visual voicemail?
