If an added line has an issue with their phone and need to file a claim does the account holder have to do it or can the person with the problem?

You can attempt to file one, but you may need information from the account holder.

There are a few variables that need to be looked at with this. The added line, was the device purchased within the last year? (the device has a 1 year warranty) or do you have the extended warranty? (or other insurance coverage)

You state that the device has "issues", could you clarify on that? (is there any physical damage to the device or water damage?) The device may just have a battery or software issue that the warranty covers. (no cost replacement VS. damage = a deductible)

If the person with the issues is not on the account as the account OWNER or account MANAGER. then the account owner or manager would need to be available to authenticate the account and get permission to speak with the other person.

Apeavy, that is a wonderful question. We want to make sure any process goes though smoothly for you or the the owner of the device. I have the answers that you are looking for. As long as the person that is having the troubles is authorized on the account they should have no problems with getting the assistance they need. The Account Owner can always add Account Managers on My Verizon: http://spr.ly/6585B653W I hope that this was able to address your concerns. Please keep us posted if you have any further questions.
