Issues with filing a claim...

I started with VZ 9-2016  on 3-2017 I added a line and had the sim card switch at the VZ store. Somehow both my current line and the new line had the same IMEI number. Now fast forward to recent one got stolen i tried to file a claim since the phone has not been used in 30+ days they cannot grant the claim. The phone was recovered damaged i tried to file a claim again because the phone was not used for 30+ days they cannot grant the claim. However i have been paying insurance on the device the whole time they never refused my payment for me not using the device for 30+ days. Very bad business.
