Just got a new Motorola phone by ordering from Verizon via phone, it broke within 4 or 5 days

I am really confused, we ordered a phone over the phone thinking the phone would be a good phone and the associate was very nice, I know I should have checked out reviews on this phone but being that iT was a phone order didn't.  I was told we could return it in the lst 30 days for exchange.  The phone was NOT dropped, somehow the screen looks cracked inside.

Was informed that I needed to take phone to verizon store which I did to see which direction I needed to go return or insurance claim, which I did and the man at the store did not even touch the phone looked at it quickly in my hand and told me couldn't be returned it was damaged.  I then did the claim.  I decided to go on online and check reviews OMG

this Motorola rival has so many complaints and one of the same complaints I have about the screen and they hadn't dropped it either.  I then call Verizon asking when I get my new phone could I exchange it as it is still in 30 days.  NOOOOO

I can't since it is now refurbished insurance phone.  I feel like I have been given a phone that should have been removed or been recalled off the market like many other products are.  As a long time customer of Verizon I feel like I have gotten the shaft along with many other Verizon customers who have purchased the Motorola rival cell phone.  I am very frustrated

as I know that this new phone will probably break as the comments in the reviews..... I now have to trade my son for this

phone and give him my sturdy phone as this will have to be babied along to keep it working.  It shouldn't be that fragile.

Each time you have insurance claim it is 35,00 and this was a free phone due to contract.  Believe me I was going to

change internet service to Verizon, now I won't be, I will have a fear that the product will not be backed up.. I have 4 phone lines, and as contract is up I believe I will be changing my service, I also may consider changing my home line too.

I work in customer service and this isn't the way to treat a loyal customer.  I needed to vent but also want to reach out there to see if anyone has any ideas how to resolve this issue.  or is it just a lost cause?

One approach that could work is to print some of the discussions on this forum about the exact same issues that others have had with their Rival, too. The fact that the discussions are taking place on Verizon's official forum might give some weight.

 

Also, there are a LOT of complaints about the same issues for the Rival on verizonwireless.com -- to find these complaints, look at the list of phones. Each phone has a section for customer reviews.

 

[When I was recently at a Verizon store, a Verizon salesman standing next to me advised a customer not to get the Rival because of the unreliability of the hardware.]
