Obrnlori,

I understand your frustration with the Daily Scoop application. Did you complete all the steps in the previous posting about the "Bonus Msgs?" This seems to work for other users.

However, I want to make sure that this is resolved. If you followed the steps listed above and are still having issues, please feel free to send me a PM and include your name and contact information. I will be happy to contact you personally to resolve.

Thanks and have a good day!

I just got this phone 24 hours ago.

In that time 2 Daily Scoop messages.  THIS IS ANNOYING AS GREEN SNOT CLOGGING MY THROAT!!!

I just tried adjusting the settings as outlined in the previous post.  Hopefully that will work.

I will post back the results in the next 7 days.  If I get another automated Daily Scoop message in the next 7 days, its going back for a refund.

This is a **bleep**TY ploy by Verizon, offering adds and propeganda-filled entry level phones in an attempt to get everyone to upgrade to a more $$$ phones / data plans.

NOT impressed thus far.  I have a hard time openly recommending Verion to others in light of this.

I did the steps to turn off bonus messages and Verizon messages. It stopped the alerts for a little bit, but now they are back again, not as many, but still enough to annoy and waste the battery.

Do we really have to go turn on the data plan for this phone, and download and update the Daily Scoop to remove it?

Is this going to cost us money?

Please help on how to fix this problem. I love Verizon and always say they are better than any other cell company I have had before, but this phone has been awful.

I would love to go back to my Samsung Alias 2, it was the best phone, but since I switched to a different phone to try it out, I was no longer grandfathered in to not having to pay a minimum $10 data plan.

I just want to have my phone with keyboard to text and not having an alert for something I don't want, coming up all the time.

Its now been 3 days, since I turned the Bonus messages and Verizon messages  OFF and I have not had another Daily scoop spam.  I will give it 3-4 more days, so far so good though.

In these past 3 days however I have recived 2 spam messages for Mobile Mail and one spam for City ID.  The City ID ap can be removed and un-installed, so I did that yesterday.  The Mobile Mail feature can NOT be un-installed(AAAARGH!!!), So that icon will ALWAYS remain on-screen, and (unless someone can prove to me otherwise) the phone will always be exposed to Mobile Mail  spam.

I had to call Verizon customer service and had them TURN OFF all text / spam messages from ANYONE not on my contact list (which at this point is only 7 close family members).

I am still however exposed to Verizon text messages for billing statements, payment received messages...etc.  That could be a back door for them to spam me further.  If I still get spam fom Verizon I will call again and ask to deactivate ALL text messages EXCEPT those on my contact list, as I can get my billing / account status myself on-line.

My contract tart date was 8/22, the verdict is still out on this phone I have another week to decide if I want to keep it or terminate and demand a refund.

You would think they would be able to send out an update that would fix this....I guess we are too little..in the minority....

"The last I heard is that they are working on the issue.  They are having some trouble replicating the errors...  I know there a couple of dozen users, or so,  on the site who are seeing the issue, but it's not happening on all Cosmos Touch phones and so far they haven't been able to recreate the environment in which it happens...  It is probably due to the Cosmos Touch not responding well to system messages on SOME Accounts under certain circumstances on some network configurations.... I'm just guessing here, but it's definitely not all Cosmos Touch customers.

I know this is not the answer you want but it's all I have, right now...  I'm still keeping it as a priority in meetings."

Verizon, you have always had the best customer support but you need to do more about this HUGE problem.

Why are myself and other consumers FORCED to have this horrible app on our phone? None of us downloaded it. I certainly did not. And yet it continues to pop up on my phone despite my attempts at deleting it. The steps that you are asking us to take to remove this app is RIDICULOUS and beyond inconvenient. Apps like Daily Scoop should not be pre-installed on users' devices, and it should be far more simple to remove apps. I have tried and tried to remove this app and it won't be removed. Yes, I have emailed the email address and haven't heard back. My point is: I shouldn't have to go out of my way to email an address and wait for this awful app to be removed from a device that I paid well over $100 for.

I hope you are listening, Verizon. I've been a customer for a decade and this is one of the few times that I have considered leaving. Don't pre-install useless apps like this on consumer devices, and don't let handset manufacturers do so, either. It is not an excuse if you say that LG is responsible for this. You are the carrier and you have the power.

This is actually a problem with more than Daily Scoop. The phone lights up at random times, day and night. Clearly, something is trying to "Phone Home." Yesterday I got a message from the download center to download Suduko 2. It really made me mad, as I have used the website interface and spoken to tech support to turn off all that junk. They assured me I was buttoned up. Apparently not so. I truly REGRET having "upgraded" to this terrible phone. I wanted something with a slide-out keyboard so I could text my daughter as she heads off to college. I regret not returning this terrible phone within the first week. This is so frustrating, I have been looking on the LG forums as well, and people there are frustrated as well,

Normally I am not a big complainer about "money hungry corporations" etc. However, I am left to choose between ignorance or lack of care about the consumer re this phone. I am thisclose to dumping it, going back to my old Moto finding a way to avoid this network as much as possible as I try to keep up with my family.

I have had Verizon for years, and I laughed at my family who were stuck with AT&T so they could have their iPhones. I loved my simple, reliable phone and service. Not so much, anymore. I am not sure we'll be re-upping the other 2 lines we have.

Users should not have take steps to disable "features" they do not want and that detract from the usability of their equipment. (Battery life is weak on this phone, and I ascribe that to a combination of the touch screen-which I knew about going in, and the constant searching for whatever it is searching for.

All the shenanigans we have to go through to get a simple device to behave the way it ought out of the box are just plain wrong. Would somebody, somewhere read this and get something done? Please?

Here endeth the rant.

The best is...my husband's phone cannot  add the backup addresses and he does not have the daily scoop on his so when they told me the only way to fix it is do reset to factory fresh..I said NO! That's what started my downhill path!
