Please assist!

A few years back I opened up a verizon account and put it in my husbands name. We now have three Verizon phones, one of which I use for my small business. I want to assume liability for my business phone but my husband refuses to allow me. He wants total control over the verizon web account because he says he has a right to. Too- I am the one who pays all the verizon bills!

Divorce is months away and it seems that going through the court is the only option I have to have control over my own phone.I want to assume liability of the phone I use for my small business.

Any suggestions are welcome!

But if the husband is the account owner (she says the account is in his name), he would have to authorize an Assumption of Liability, which apparently he refuses to do.

Is your Name on the Account if it Not Then all you need to Do is Walk away.!  If he want's all the Control Let him Sweat 3 Lines. Open an Account of your Own.  Now if your Name is on the Account then you do have some Say in the Deal and Talking to Customer service Might Help in your Trek in Dealing with it. They should be able to Free you from the Contract Especially if your Husband or to Be Ex Husband is the Primary Holder on the Account..  Hope ya have Good Luck b33Smiley Happy

Bring it up in court.  Tell them you want to AOL the line during the divorce proceedings.

Tell me about it!

This issue has been so dis-empowering. He makes me feel like a stupid girl and he is my daddy. Especially embarrassing in front of the kids. I have no alterial motives- I just want to be in control of this small yet important part of my life.Would a Verizon office person be penalized if they helped me out with a AOL without my husbands permission?

Thanks again.

Thinking of what you said brought me to This:

Give Him a No.1 in the No.9 and i bet he'll find out who the Boss is really Quick. My Sister done that to one Husband and one boyfriend and they Left the Party without saying Good By. And even though she is in her 50's she can still Kick it Today and she goes Now were with out wearing her Ropers..

As for the Question i want to say No but it could depending on how hard he would push the Subject in Hand...And it kind of Depends on how it could play out in Court if it goes to that.. Hopefully it won't. For you and your little one's

Is part of the problem that your small business number given out to clients?  I don't know how possible it would be to transfer the number (that you officially do not own) if you open new accounts with Verizon or with another carrier (I assume that there must be some check when I ask another carrier to port my number from Verizon, otherwise I could steal someone's number!).   So you might need to be prepared to give your clients a different number.

But stopping paying the bills does seem the right thing to do.  If it is all in your husband's name, he will be liable for payment, and the credit score hit, and, if he wants to own the account, he has to take the responsibility....

As you are nearing divorce, I would guess this is in hand, but now would be a good time to see what other things are in his name only, in case you run into similar situations.

Good luck!

When you say "account manager" do you mean one at Verizon office or the name on the account?
