Verizon does not understand the Military. When notified that we needed to re verify documentation for Retired Military Discount we took my husband's ID card to the local office which is where the original discount was done and WITH the retired military ID card. They said that was not acceptable and they needed a VA card - tried to explain that the retired ID card covers all services for retirees but they are dense as hell. Took a DD-214 in and then received an email that it was INVALID - called and the customer reps Santiago and Libby were clueless.
Bring back the draft and then see how fast they get up-to-date of military matters. My husband is a retired Vietnam era veteran and what was acceptable 2 years ago to open the account should be acceptable NOW!!!!! But with clueless and useless customer service it is an impossible job.

Tried that - a real joke. If it is not taken care of now after all I have documented then I will just tell them to stuff the damn discount and may be looking for a new provider. Possibly one of those month to month where if you are disgusted with service you just move on. Beginning to look more attractive all of the time because no one nation provider has any loyalty to their customers. Big corporations just love eating up their customers and care not a whit about losing them - they used to worry about their "churn rate" but don't think they even consider it anymore. We are just one more number in a large sea and if we go on down to the road - oh, well.

Who knows. Guess I will be able to tell when the bill shows up. Not on contract anymore so can take my business elsewhere. Not going to deal with them about this anymore because all I keep getting are people who are totally ignorant about military and what is and is NOT required - maybe we need to bring back the draft and then they will begin to care about and pay more attention to our military personnel and their certifications, IDs, etc because they do not now. Because we have an all volunteer force they do not think they should have to know or be"inconvenienced" by anything military - that's what "they - the volunteer force" is for.
I'm finished even trying to convince them that they are very ignorant when it comes to what makes up an identification for a "RETIRED" military person and what the ID card means.

Did you even TRY the website?
What does bringing back the draft have anything to do with the price of apples in the sate of Florida?

As a military veteran myself. I strongly suggest your husband get the VA card. I've used it countless times for ID.

My husband is retired military and has his Indefinite military ID which is used for anything and everything. He does not NEED the VA card as his ID card covers it all.
