I started getting overage notices, and when I looked it seems my unlimited data had been changed to a 2GB plan. (I haven't signed any new contracts or bought any new phones, or done anything to the account). I have been trying to get my plan re-instated and am being told I cannot. I'm not sure what I can do. I've been with Verizon for many years, and had planned on remaining with them but I am SO frustrated by this. If I cannot get this mistake fixed I am going to switch to another company. Any ideas?

Verizon can get rid of unlimited data at anytime. Maybe they finally did. Though you'd think they'd sent out notices. So you didn't swap and upgrade with another line on your account?

First, call Verizon and find out what happened. Second, if you are out of contract, then there is no guarantee that your service terms will remain the same.

Some on had to do something. Did you change anything that you can think of. Even as small as a feature?

Agree, someone, or someone on your account had to do something on the account to trigger this. Did someone else on your account change anything or get something new? The other question is how long has it been this way?

What seems to have happened is that my sister went to look at phones, though she didn't end up getting one. But in the course of the visit the rep was recommending alternate plans to her that he said would better suit her usage. Somehow he ended up canceling my data plan. This occurred a couple of weeks ago, and I tried to get it fixed right away.

Who is the account owner? If she is and you're on her account and she switched to a More Everything plan yeah your unlimited data is gone.

She is not the account holder, and so should not have been able to make any changes to my account. (not that she even meant to)

If she knows the last 4 of your social security number she can. Seems like you need to blame sis not Verizon. You need to tell sis she's not allowed to do anything to the account without your permission or she can get her own account.
