It would be nice if Verizon would simply say: "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan; if you like your phone, you can keep your phone". If they only said that, I'm sure they'd have to keep their word.

They DID say you can stay on your plan. Heck they still have 30% still on Nationwide 3 years after Share/More Everything was introduced. That doesn't mean you can still get a subsidized phone. A 2 year upgrade is not part of your plan.

Hey zz99, I'm about 99.99% sure that Froido was just making a joke.

even if he was way too many people seem confused about these new "simpler" plans. Short of saying "here phones and service are free" I don't think Verizon can ever win.

Good point, but despite all our best efforts there are just going to be some people that none of us will be able to explain this to adequately. It would be nice if we could though.

How is that even possible? How are you paying $175 for 5 lines with 15GB and I'm paying $147 for 2 lines with 3GB? What the heck?

OK, so right now I'm paying $130 (+ tax) for 2 smartphone lines with 3 GB.
It is my understanding that line charges will be $20 per phone ($40) and 3 GB will be $45, meaning that my bill would now be $85/month + paying for devices instead of getting "discounts." Is that right, guys? Thanks.

He is out of contract and all his phones are paid off.
15 GB is $100
Each line of service is $15 x 5 = $75
I have 30 GB, 5 lines of service (3 smartphones, 2 tablets) and pay $185, taxes included
30 GB was on special for a short period of time for $130
access fees: 3 smartphones out of contract, fully paid off $15 x 3, and 2 tablets x $10
I also get 13% off the $130 as a company reduction.
You can get good deals with Verizon, but you need to understand how they work, grab the good deals when they come, and hold on to them as long as you can unless something better comes up. It also means not getting new phones all the time, and considering buy your phones outright. In the end it is cheaper, sometimes much cheaper. Being on the roller coaster of wanting new phones every 2 years is what keeps people's prices high. You have to pay for that phone one way or the other.
