I have a friend who wants to answer a very pertinent question about using upgrades after 6/28. OK here's the rub, some reps are telling her that in order to use an upgrade after 6/28 she won't be able to keep her current plan even though she is only adding a data pack to the plan. 2 different reps told this lie and adamantly assured her it was true. We are now asking phone reps and comparing what they say, this degraded level of service is both appalling and unethical. Even the phone rep, after being pressed said she would "get a second opinion" This information is not a matter of opinion, but policy and is in print somewhere but finding it is daunting. The question is not about keeping the current plan but keeping the current plan and using an upgrade where the current device is a basic phone and the upgraded device will be a smart phone. Thanks in advance . . links appreciated.

She will not be able to keep her plan. Verizon is phasing out all legacy plans on the next upgrade for everyone. It is NOT appalling and unethical. It's Verizon's choice to do what they want with their business. At the time of the upgrade you are signing a NEW two year agreement with new terms. If you don't like the terms you have the option to go else where and NOT pick up the service.

But, for an individual, are the new plans any different than the old plans? Of course, she will need a data plan and can choose one of the tiered data plans.
