Out of service area for 5 months

We will be out of Verizon service area for 5 months this summer. I plan on unlocking my phone, put Verizon on vacation, change my phone sim to the new carrier. Then when we return change the sim back and reactivate my phone on Verizon. Will this work?

Sounds like an amazing trip, nbargolf. You can suspend the line without billing for up to 90 days within a 365 day period via http://www.vzw.com/suspend. You can also review options for a lower plan while away for the months that we are unable to stop the billing.
