Paying too much?

Does anyone else feel like they are paying too much? I have been with Verizon for 3 years now and my bill for 5 people is about $300 a month. I called to see if I could get any sort of lower rate for being a customer for so long and I was given the option to remove a GB of data from my plan to help lower my cost. I was also offered a promotional GB. Magically, when having my GB removed, I went over my data and was forced to buy the GB back. Verizon has no idea as to why the data was so high. I have been looking at less expensive options. I have let Verizon know that, but they basically said go ahead. Verizon has very poor customer service. In my opinion they do not care about their customers, only the money in our wallet. As soon as my phone lines are FREE from the contract, I plan to leave Verizon. They are far too expensive and don't provide for their customers. I even have a 17% discount on my bill through my work, but conveniently, it only applies to a small charge that has no purpose. If you are considering Verizon don't, you are better off somewhere else!!

You're only paying about $60 per phone. You can go with prepaid, but keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

I would be curious what that "small charge that has no purpose" happens to be.

Are you on the More Everything plan? If so, that "small charge that has no purpose" is for your data. If the data on your plan "has no purpose" simply change your data allowance to the lowest possible amount and it WILL save you money.

If you THEN go over your data allowance, that charge DOES have a purpose then. If you use the data, then the charge DOES have a purpose.

Sorry, I'm just flustered with this company. My 17% discount is only applied to my access charges, which I feel like I'm getting ripped off that my discount is applied to a small charge like that.

I will look into the More Everything Plan, but I have 5 people instead of 4, so I don't know how that will work out.

Well, 17% is better than none. You could always address your concerns with your employer, who sign a contract directly with Verizon for the discount.

I completely agree. I myself am on a single line plan and only have 1 GB of data and I still pay $80 a month. That is the precise reason I only have 1 GB so that I could get my bill as low as possible. I think it's ridiculous that I have to pay that for just one phone and I barely use any data, when my dad uses Sprint and pays $30 a month with 3 GB of data. That's because Spring doesn't make you finance your phone! That's where Verizon downfalls; there is no reason their customers need to pay so much. $300 a month for your bill and practically a nonexistent discount? That's terrible. They're only about making money, and I hate going in the store for help because they're always trying to find ways to up your bill. Thankfully i did deal with a very nice sales associate today who got right to the point and helped me, but Verizon is lucky they have the best cell service in my area or I would leave in a heartbeat.

You should check out Verizon's current single line plans. The 1 GB single line plan is currently $60. 2 GB for $75.
